例子1年初时我们在南京招聘一位销售工程师，候选人知名外企背景，虽与我们产品不同，但同属工业品背景，销售模式基本相同，外形俊朗，有成功案例。在做背景调查时，我们着重调查了成功案例的真实性，从销售经理到HR都一一给予佐证，又因为项目涉及的标的很大，属南京的某个重点项目，在公司内有一定影响，所以HR在给予佐证时，还大肆夸奖了一番，这点也挺打动我们，于是，我们在两位候选人当中选择了该位候选人。
试用期内，该位员工利用他在当地的人脉关系，挖掘了几个潜在的项目，虽然没有最终签单，但还算颇有成效，因为工业品尤其是大型设备签单周期都很长。销售经理在试用期总结中也给予了较高的评价，我也很高兴，这说明HR找对人了，哈哈。
再过两个月很突然接到了他的辞职报告，离职面谈之后我大致明白了其中的原因：1）迟迟不出单，让他备受压力；2）公司品牌影响力不及上家单位，让他跑地相当辛苦，3）家庭环境优越，让他有更多退路。
从“得意之作”到“尴尬收场”，我必须检讨一下：
1）通过背景调查，候选人过去经历是否属实？确实属实，但过去的的经历能够遇见未来的成功吗，有时候能，有时候却不能，销售绝对是隔行如隔山的工作。
2）如果我们面试时把1）抗压能力2）行业差异3）个人恒定 甚至 4）家庭版背景 做更多的考量，可能会避免这个问题发生。
3）所以我说，如果基本的内容没做好，其它方面做的再好也只能是南辕北辙。符合本企业特点的胜任力模型是基础，面试官的选人能力、洞察力是关键，其它的虽然重要，但都是服务于此的。
4）那背景调查要不要做，当然要做，因为有些候选人的过去经历（工作经历）本身就是有问题的。

其实背景调查很难说能准确的，除了背景调查外，在面试过程中更应重视各项能力、素质的考察
